I graduated as a Sociologist in 2007 at Utrecht University, with a special interest in the attitudes and motivations of day-to-day human behaviour.
After graduation I continued my Master in “Social and Political Sciences of the Environment” at Radboud University Nijmegen. Here I acquired knowledge of and developed a passion for research focused on environmental issues and energy policies connected to human interaction and behaviour.
I want to know why people, against better judgement, continue to contaminate their own environment. In spite of being aware of the environmental issues we face, people persist in irresponsible behavioural patterns that drive this planet’s resources to the brink of collaps and exhaustion. Why is this? How can people become intrinsically motivated to sacrifice short term personal gain for long term collective well-being? Finding answers to these questions and translating these answers into practical guidelines, policies and tools is one of my key professional drivers.
For UCPartners and its clients I am part of a research team focused on behavioural strategies that people use for using and conserving energy, both at home and at work. Through these projects we develop interventions that can be applied domestically as well as in the office to improve energy efficiency and minimise energy waste.
