After acquiring my Masters degree in Psychology in 1999, majoring in artificial intelligence, I joined Capgemini where I started my professional career in an advanced development unit, focused mainly on Microsoft products. I quickly became a lead configurator and problem solver in IT development and implementation projects.

My ability to rapidly familiarise myself with various business and IT environments was required in a role as technical and business process engineer in various industries and companies. These projects included: the military intelligence service (MID), several large insurance companies and the department for inspection of transportation (IVW).

In 2002 I was asked to become lead configurator for the initial setup of the entire IT back office of start-up energy retailer energie:direct, a subsidiary of Essent, the Netherlands’ largest utility company. Besides the fact that I actively participated in the architectural design of the company, I also became specialist in the Excelergy software that was deployed (revenue manager and business runner).
I remained focused on the utility industry from that project onwards, and was engaged in projects as an Excelergy and utility subject matter expert for various clients in the Dutch utility market. Key roles involved setting up new back office processes or optimising existing work processes, both on functional and technical levels. Clients included: Any-G, “ONS groep Schiedam”, EnergieNed, Brinvoice, Essent Belgium and Essent NL.

Throughout the years I became specialised in a wide variety of technical environments (e.g. .Net, SQL Server, Oracle, Biztalk Server, Excelergy products (revenue manager, business runner), and ProcessRunner), and I gained experience working in RUP environments, designing with UML. I acquired my TOGAF certification as an enterprise architect in 2007.
