Service offerings are built around the energy value chain, a stable structure in a changing environment.

The energy value chain covers both supply and demand. Energy demand is not "just there", waiting to be met by supply companies. Energy demand derives from human activities and needs. Nobody wants energy for its own sake. We want energy to warm and light our houses, to cook our food, to power our machines and transport vehicles. Managing energy at end user level is mainly about managing activities and needs that are precursory to energy demand.

Supply is split into upstream and downstream domains. The upstream domain is about designing, building and operating physical assets and infrastructures to produce and transport energy in any physical form from its sources of origin to end users.

The downstream domain is about competing in today's liberalised energy markets and about dealing with the complex data and information flows that are the backbone of all administrative and commercial energy market processes.

Demand is about designing strategies to avoid energy consumption in the first place, to use energy more efficiently where unavoidable and to increase the share of renewables in your energy mix. These strategies cover user behaviour, facility management and deploying innovative energy technology.

In Research and Education we bring people and knowledge together to study markets and to train and coach energy and utility market professionals.
